Terms of Use

These terms apply when you use the iLostPet website or app. By creating an account or using iLostPet, you agree to them. iLostPet is run by Lindsay and Associates in Nebraska, USA ("we").

Your account

You must be at least 13 years old, and give a real email address you can receive mail at.
Keep your password private. You're responsible for what's posted from your account.
You can delete your account at any time from your Profile.

What you can post

Posts must be honest and about real animals. Don't:

post fake reports, or ask for money, deposits or gift cards to "return" a pet (a common scam);
harass, threaten or impersonate anyone, or share someone else's private information;
post anything illegal, hateful, sexual, or that you don't have the right to share;
advertise, spam, or sell animals, or offer to "boost" or "promote" anyone's post;
try to break, overload or get around the security of iLostPet.

You keep ownership of the photos and text you post. You give us permission to store, display and share them within iLostPet (including in alerts to nearby users) so the service can help find pets. That permission ends when you delete the post, apart from backup copies, which expire within 60 days.

Moderation

Users can report posts that break these rules. Posts reported by several people are hidden automatically until a moderator reviews them. We may hide or remove posts, and suspend or delete accounts, that break these terms.

Meeting people and animals

iLostPet connects people but doesn't check who they are. When reuniting a pet, meet in a public place, ask the owner for proof such as photos, vet records or a microchip number, and never pay anyone to return an animal. Approach stray animals carefully, and contact animal control if one seems dangerous or injured.

No guarantees

We work hard to keep iLostPet running and useful, but it's provided "as is." We can't promise that a pet will be found, that alerts will always arrive on time, or that what users post is accurate. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for losses arising from your use of iLostPet or from dealings between users.

Changes

We may update these terms. If the changes are important we'll let you know in the app, and continuing to use iLostPet means you accept them. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nebraska, USA.
